Azur Sport Santé, a French regional Health Enhancing Physical Activity (HEPA) resource and expertise centre based in Nice and certified by the Regional Health Agency, is proud to announce its participation in the European project Active Ageing for Falls Prevention.

This EU-funded initiative is designed to support older adults across Europe in maintaining their independence and improving their quality of life through regular, adapted physical activity. Within this context, we are excited to launch a series of pilot Active Ageing programmes in three towns in the Hautes-Alpes region of France: La Roche-des-Arnauds, Manteyer, and Serres.

Supporting seniors through physical activity

In partnership with Maison Sport Santé Buëch Dévoluy, these programmes aim to prevent falls and the loss of autonomy in people aged 65 and above by introducing them to a specially designed exercise routine known as the ABC+ method.

Over 12 weeks, participants will attend two sessions per week, each led by qualified professionals trained in physical activity for older adults. The focus will be on improving balance, strength, and general health—all key factors in maintaining independence in later life.

Limited spaces still available

A few places are still available in the current sessions. We encourage anyone interested, or anyone who knows someone who may benefit, to get in touch with Maison Sport Santé Buëch Dévoluy to learn more or to register. These pilot programmes are just the beginning. In the coming months, additional Active Ageing programmes will be launched in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, further expanding the reach of this valuable initiative.
